Sejak tahun 2010, harga rokok di Malaysia meningkat hampir 70%. Rokok premium seperti Dunhill dan sebagainya hanyalah berharga RM10 sekotak pada tahun 2010 dan kini meningkat melebihi RM17.00. Manakala harga rokok sub-premium pula meningkat dari RM8.50 kepada Rm15.50 dalam tempoh yang sama.

KUALA LUMPUR: has launched the next phase of its CD:NXT talent development initiative, introducing a work-based learning programme alongside existing graduate development and technology certification initiatives.The telecommunications company said the latest phase of CD:NXT comprises three programmes — campus@celcomdigi, the Young Talent Programme (YTP) and Certifications — aimed at strengthening collaboration between academia and industry and developing skills relevant to the digital economy.The new campus@celcomdigi initiative integrates industry experience into university learning by giving students exposure to real business challenges and workplace engagement.Under the programme, second-year students will work on actual business challenges as part of their coursework and receive mentorship from industry practitioners. Selected final-year students will subsequently undertake industry residencies at CelcomDigi’s headquarters, where they will work alongside experienced teams and contribute to live projects.The programme will initially involve four university partners — Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Kuala Lumpur and HELP University.CelcomDigi said the final-year residency programme is targeted at reaching more than 300 students annually, with the initiative expected to be expanded to more universities in the coming years.CelcomDigi chief executive officer Albern Murty said the company’s engagement with universities and Malaysian graduates had reinforced its view that the country has human capital capable of supporting its economic ambitions and digitally driven growth.“We continue to engage with universities and Malaysian graduates, and our experience gives us the firm belief that Malaysia produces exceptional human capital with the right capabilities to drive the country's economic ambitions and the next wave of digitally driven economic growth,” he said.Albern added that corporations had a role in working with the government to create an environment for young Malaysians to develop their careers and contribute to the country’s future.“CD:NXT is our commitment to building that future. We continue to invest in talent today to nurture a generation of Malaysians to grow their careers, have the freedom to innovate, build character and shape the nation's future,” he said.Meanwhile, the YTP, which was introduced in 2025, is a two-year programme combining rotational assignments, mentorship and hands-on participation in strategic projects.Following its inaugural cohort, the programme has taken in a second batch of 20 young talents. The participants will undergo career development across areas including cloud engineering, cybersecurity, data and business analytics, digital product development, and artificial intelligence and automation.The third component, Certifications, builds on CelcomDigi Metaversity and provides learning opportunities and recognised accreditation in emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and extended reality.The programme is open to school and university students as well as working professionals, with the company saying it is intended to broaden access to digital skills and industry qualifications.CelcomDigi said the overall CD:NXT ecosystem was aligned with the aspirations of the Rancangan Pendidikan Tinggi Malaysia 2026-2035 and intended to support the evolving requirements of Malaysia’s digital economy.
